Today, I'll be writing about one thing that was a part of my beauty regime since I started to pay more attention to my skin. It's about Neem powder. It didn't only help me with acne war but also it helped me with my overly sensitive stomach, since then it became a must item in my house.
Neem is a tree native to India, and it is used for over 5000 years for all kinds of infections and health problems.
Neem has anti-bacterial, anti-virus, anti-parasite, anti-fungal properties which makes it a magic tree that you could find in Once upon a time.
You can buy it in drug stores in a form of green powder, which is the most common, and if you look really carefully you can also find the brown powder.
Why are there two different colors?
The green powder is made out of leaves, and only leaves. While the brown powder has leaves and branches (twigs) in it.
All of the parts of this tree have health benefits. The brown powder is mostly used as a natural toothpaste, and the green one is used for teas, hair care, skin care and many other things which I will explain right now.
So, let's get started!
1. Local use of neem powder or neem oil.
Neem powder and Neem oil are perfect for skin problems because they - prevent skin infections
- help with wound healing
- help with acne, psoriasis and eczema
- help with skin irritation (such as itching, allergic reactions, rash)
- Neem water is used for wound care
- Neem oil is used against hair loss and for gray hair
- it is used for treating the dandruff and lice
- the oil is also used for arthritis, gout and back pain
2. Oral use of neem powder.
Neem tea is made just with Neem leaves. You can use dried neem leaves or grinned neem leaves. For the dried neem leaves you should put few leaves in the cup and pour the boiled water over it. Leave it for about 5 minutes and then strain the tea.
If you are using grinned neem leaves or neem powder you should put only about a dash of the powder in a cup of boiled water, stir it and you are good to go.
Let me tell you, this tea is super bitter. And I actually like bitter things, but this is on a quite new level for me. It took me a long time to get use to it.
In case you can't really get over the taste you can add some honey or lemon juice to your tea to mask the bitterness.
The benefits of oral use of neem powder are HUGE.
- it is good for digestion problems and constipation
- it deals with bowel parasites
- stomach problems and illnesses
- it is used for detox and blood cleansing
- it helps to control diabetes
- helps with bladder infections
- stimulates liver
- helps with eye diseases
- strengthens the immune system
- helps with hepatitis
- lowers the stress level
- helps with heart diseases
- arthritis
- illnesses caused by virus
The tea should be drank 3 times a day, and the first time you should drink it in the morning on an empty stomach.
If you are using the tea for stomach problems or any kind of illness you should drink it for at least one month before you actually see/feel the difference.
Here are some DIY with neem powder:
- face mask (coming soon)
- hair oil
